How the calculation works

This calculator models the additional revenue you could earn if SEO increased your organic traffic, while your conversion rate and average order value stayed the same. The maths is simple and transparent:

Extra revenue = (Current traffic × SEO growth %) × Conversion rate × Average order value

For example, with 1,500 monthly visitors, a 2.5% conversion rate and a £120 average order value, a +150% traffic uplift adds 2,250 visitors a month. At a 2.5% conversion that’s roughly 56 extra sales × £120 = £6,750 of additional revenue every month — over £81,000 a year.

Real campaigns also tend to lift conversion rates and average order value over time, so these figures are deliberately conservative. SEO is a compounding investment: the traffic you build keeps working long after the work is done, unlike paid ads that stop the moment you stop spending.

Why SEO is one of the highest-ROI channels

Traffic that compounds

Every page you rank keeps attracting visitors month after month. Unlike ads, your investment doesn’t disappear when the budget stops.

Intent-rich visitors

People searching Google are actively looking for what you offer. That’s why organic search converts so well compared with interruptive channels.

Lower cost per lead

As rankings improve, your cost per acquisition falls. Many of our clients see organic become their single most profitable channel.

SEO ROI: common questions

Most businesses see meaningful traffic growth within 4–6 months, with the strongest returns building from month 6 onwards as rankings mature and content gains authority. SEO is a medium-to-long term investment that keeps compounding.

It depends on your starting point. Sites with little existing SEO often see far larger gains, while established sites grow more steadily. That’s why we let you adjust the growth slider — and why a proper audit gives you a realistic, site-specific projection.

The calculator works just as well for service businesses. Use your enquiry-to-customer conversion rate and the average value of a customer instead of an online order. The principle is identical: more qualified visitors means more revenue.

They’re a directional estimate, not a guarantee. We deliberately keep conversion rate and order value constant, even though SEO usually improves both. For a precise forecast based on your real analytics and competition, request a free audit below.
